It's not every day that I get contacted by someone all the way from India, asking to book in a newborn photo session for their family! But this is what happened with baby Myra's family!
It turns out that Myra's Aunty and extended family still live in India, but she was born here with her parents having moved to Australia a few years ago now and living locally in one of Melbourne's eastern suburbs, Croydon. Myra's Aunty just so happens to run a wedding photography business in India, so understands just how special it is to capture milestone moments in life such as welcoming your first child! I felt very flattered that she had managed to find my website from across the other side of the world and loved my work so much that she wanted me to capture the precious memories of her sister's first baby girl! In addition, Myra's Grandmother was visiting Australia at the time to meet her first grandchild, so we were also able to capture some truly precious memories with her involved! It is quite traditional for Indian families to be very close and I've included the Grandparents on a few occasions when photographing Indian families.
In discussions with Myra's Mum before the photography session, she told me that she preferred more natural moments rather than posed looking-at-camera portraits, and I just love this 3 generation photo of the girls below! Myra decided she was going to have some awake time and look at those gorgeous brown eyes!
FAMILY PORTRAITS
Sometimes there are photographs taken within a photography session that just make my heart sing, and this family photo below does exactly that! Just stunning, and a natural moment captured as Dad chose to do this with no instructions from me! These newborn family photographs just ooze so much love! And I just adore the one of Dad with Myra, keeping her eye on me!
MYRA'S NEWBORN PORTRAITS
Mum told me she loves the more simple and natural newborn photos, so with that in mind I created these gorgeous portraits and was lucky that Myra was a very sleepy baby so I could achieve a great variety!
Myra did have some awake time though, and I just love being able to capture some adorable eyes-open moments when I get the opportunity!
Lastly, we captured a couple of photographs that included Mum and Dad's hands. I love these type of photographs as they show a true scale of how tiny Myra was as a newborn, and in years to come her parents will look back on these in wonder that she was ever so small!
